Te Waka Mokihi.

 Te reo maori

We learnt about the Mokihi waka. We learned that the mokihi waka is made out of harakeke and bulrushes and it was good for crossing rivers, but it could only carry one person at a time.It was super fun and I thought  planning  was hard because putting it in the spot it was going to go in figuring what colors to.

Rakaihautu.

   On wednesday we got put in to grops to year 4 to 8 my grop was Pippin,Charlotte,Arihana,Iziah,Hirini,Miriam,Tk,Turoa,Zyah,Louis. We all went  to search about Rakaihautu we went on defrent sits it was hard but we did it. heres some stuff about hem.

Rakaihautu captain of Uruao canoe is one of the founding ancestors of Waitaha an older South Island tribe. He is created with exploring the South Island mountains, and digging it’s great lakes. At Nelson and walked South. The  first of the lakes he dug out were those of the Nelson lakes national  park, Rotoiti and Rotoroa. Far to the of were Rakaihautu began his labour of excavating the great Southern lakes, he ended his task at lake Te Anua and lake Manapouri.

Rakaihautu is well known for digging its great lakes  for this day. Rakaihautu iwi is waitaha. Heres some links. Heres a song of Rakaihautu.
